Hands-on research – EnFoSaar at German Unity Day 2025 in Saarbrücken

Published by psprenger on

What does the future of energy look like for Saarland? This question was the focus of our discussions with citizens on German Unity Day 2025 in Saarbrücken.

At the stand of the Saarland University of Applied Sciences (htw saar), the EnFoSaar project presented an interactive hidden object game using building blocks, which illustrated the role of wind power, photovoltaics, hydrogen, AI and storage technologies for a climate-neutral future in Saarland.

The hidden object game served as a playful introduction to talking to visitors – especially children – about energy, research and sustainability. A matching quiz provided additional fun and made research tangible and interactive in an entertaining way.

Prominent visitors at the stand

A particular highlight was the visit by Jakob von Weizsäcker, Minister of Finance and Science, and ESA astronaut Dr Matthias Maurer, who came to find out more about the content and vision of EnFoSaar.

Strong partners in the project

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our partners – the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Saarland University and IZES gGmbH – for their active support at the stand.

The EnFoSaar – EnergieForschungSaar project is funded by the Saarland Ministry of Finance and Science as part of the Saarland Research and Knowledge Transfer Transformation Programme.
